Introduction to Library Supports
Library learning support helps staff and students develop independent research skills, build familiarity with library resources, and use them effectively to support their academic work. Support is available both in person and online. The library team at SETU Carlow Campus has also created a range of subject guides, resources and research tools to support your academic journey. Click here to access them.
These resources include an introduction to SETU Libraries, a guide to Researching your Thesis, and one on using E-books.
Additionally, we offer a detailed collection of Subject Guides to help you discover all the key resources available for your specific field of study.
Consultation Service
Library staff provide an information service to all users. Many queries can be answered at the issue desk, but we recognise that developing a full understanding of the resources available for your subject area can take more time.
We are happy to meet with you in person or online, either in a group or on a one-to-one basis. While all library staff are here to help, for more complex queries you may wish to speak to someone who is a specialist in your area:
- Brigid Carey: Faculty of Business and Humanities
- Beth Tyrrell: Faculty of Engineering
- Vacant: Faculty of Science
- Breda Connell: Research Support and Lifelong Learning
- Kim Harte: Wexford Campus
We can help you find relevant resources for assignments and literature reviews, including guidance on searching and navigating library databases. We also provide support with referencing, avoiding plagiarism, and understanding academic integrity.
Library Desk
The library desk is located just inside the entrance to the Learning Resource Centre on the Carlow Campus and to the left as you enter the Wexford Campus Library. If you wish to borrow or to return library material or if you need information assistance, call to this desk and we’ll be happy to help.
